An easy drive up the N1 from Pretoria, just past the town of Naboomspruit and here you shall find Boekenhout Bush Cottage... a retreat to simpler times and lazy days! No close neighbours and the place is yours to enjoy in peace.  No quad bikes, no loud music..... and did we mention the no electricity?  The paraffin lamps and candles to be used at night have a calming effect and a braai fire or log fire inside are the natural remedy to soothe one's soul. 

Boekenhout Bush Cottage is a cosy, thatched bush cottage of mudbrick and clay best suited to 2 sharing the king-size bed which may also be made up as a twin room.  The cottage is in a private, secluded spot looking onto naturally beautiful Waterberg views amongst 400 hectares of a bushveld farm.  Please note while the cottage has no electricity, there is a gas geyser for hot water as well as a gas cooker top and gas fridge. 

We are pet-friendly and dogs are especially welcome with 400 hectares of natural bushveld farm to explore on foot.  Well-socialised dogs are at home in this safe haven and allowed off the leash – owners must just be aware that there are bushbuck, snakes etc which may be encountered on walks and use of tick repellent is recommended. 

A quietly serene spot for you to enjoy with your pet, Boekenhout Bush Cottage is an affordable escape, in close proximity to Pretoria and Johannesburg - an easy drive for stressed Gautengers seeking little more than a comfortable bed, a few nights away and braai under the stars!

Ramble through the bushveld and hike up the koppie. Easy access to farm walks enable you to enjoy walks and hikes amidst the 400 hectares of malaria-free bushveld on which we stand.  Fish by the dam in summer.  Naturally occurring game are present here such as duiker and nyala as well as very shy predators such as leopard and caracal.  

Bird-watch as you please.  The birdlife is predominantly bushveld species but they are prolific especially during the summer.  Boekenhout is the perfect place to potter a little, watch a little and sit back to do nothing!  A simple rural cottage with peaceful surrounds.

Facilities

This simple rustic cottage consists of a bedroom, shower room, lounge area with log burning fireplace, kitchenette and outside braai with firepit. 

The cottage is serviced only on your arrival and departure unless your visit is more than 3 nights or by request - to enable you total privacy and relaxation - without interference and the swish of a broom as you try to enjoy your break!
